Netra basti – a boon for eye health 

A traditional Ayurvedic eye remedy to improve vision, prevent eye fatigue and dryness, and halt retinal degeneration.

Method for preparation –

A little ring-shaped piece of dough made from specific grains is formed by the therapist and placed over the eyes. Then, either plain or medicinal ghee is heated and poured within. A precise temperature and time are required to keep the ghee inside the ring.

The therapist will massage particular marma points near specific points as prescribed area once the ghee has been removed.

How often should you have a treatment?

The treatment is best done over a series of 5 – 10 sessions.

Who should take this treatment?

  1.       Anyone who experiences: Darkness in front of the eyes should receive this massage.
  2.       Rigidity of the eyes.
  3.       Eyes that are dry.
  4.       Redness of eyes
  5.       Ocular conditions brought on by vata and pitta vitiation- Squint.
  6.       Lash loss on the eyes.
  7.       Vision that is hazy.
  8.       Ptosis 
  9.       Conjunctivitis.
  10.       Glaucoma Atrophic fifth cranial nerve.
  11.       Disorder of the fifth cranial nerve.
  12.       The cornea’s opacity
  13.       An eye-watering condition.
  14.        Aching eyes.
  15.       Enlarged eyes.

Care after treatment: Adhere to home instructions from the doctor.

Wear dark sunglasses when it is advised to do so following a treatment.

After your treatment, consume a light lunch.

Frequently consume herbal tea or warm water.

Avoid stimulants if you can because they can prevent your treatment from having the desired impact.
