Unexplained infertility: View of Ayurveda
Unexplained infertility is defined as when a person undergoes routine infertility investigations and, after about a year, shows no abnormalities.
Therefore, infertility that a known cause cannot explain is referred to as unexplained infertility.
Most probable Cause of unexplained infertility
- Unidentified Underlying Illness: We frequently fail to comprehend why, despite being measurable, poor health has a more subtle impact on fertility. Untreated celiac disease can lead to infertility in certain cases, as an example of this.
- Endometriosis: Endometriosis/ Endometrial cysts in this condition have the potential to obstruct fallopian tubes or interfere with ovulation. However, in cases of mild or light endometriosis, it might not impede ovulation or the egg's ability to pass through. Therefore, the signs of the same are not readily apparent.
- Sperm quality: After ejaculation, the sperm have to find their way into the cervical mucus from the semen. As a result, it is anticipated that they will swim up through the vagina, cervical opening, and finally the uterus. Furthermore, since it is challenging to diagnose them, there may be interference during this process from the antibodies that progressively attack the sperm.
- Egg Quality: It is possible to determine whether ovulation is occurring, but it is impossible to test for egg quality because it is such a delicate matter. The low egg quality can be attributed to factors such as advanced age, underlying medical conditions, or an unidentified cause.
- Sperm morphology: Infertility may be caused by both poor sperm movement and sperm shape. Infertility may also result from poor-quality DNA in sperm, which is undoubtedly undetectable. Therefore, when attractive sperm don't seem to be able to fertilize healthy-looking eggs, there may be a problem.
- Uterine lining: When a healthy embryo cannot implant into the endometrium despite having a healthy cervical environment, healthy eggs, and healthy sperm, we have an issue.
- Fertilization issue: Despite meeting the parameters for fertilization, issues may still occur.
Precautions: To maintain a healthy diet, consume fresh fruits and vegetables, whole grains, proteins from dairy, and Mung dal (split green beans). Soaked dry fruits, juicy fruits, and broccoli should also be included. Use spices like ajwain powder, cumin, turmeric, and black cumin in food preparation.
Factors that reduce the chances of pregnancy include smoking, intake of toxic substances, and drugs, exposure to chemicals, stress, weight, and excessive exercise. These factors can harm the body, affect reproductive health, and disrupt natural body functions. Maintaining a healthy weight, avoiding toxic substances, and managing stress levels can increase the chances of getting pregnant. It is important to exercise in moderation to avoid any negative impact on the body to infertility.
Ayurveda treatment for infertility includes correction of agni, regulation of vatadosha, eliminating impurities from the body, and usage of ayurvedic herbs. This helps improve agni, eliminate the root cause of infertility and correct organic or functional problems causing infertility.
