Ayurveda is an ancient Indian medicinal system that has been practiced for centuries. It is a proven treatment for various ailments, including liver cirrhosis, a non-reversible liver disease. Ayurvedic remedies can effectively slow down the progression of liver cirrhosis and prevent it from advancing to an irreversible stage. Several commonly used Ayurvedic medicines have been clinically tested and proven to be beneficial in treating liver cirrhosis.
Liver cirrhosis is a grave concern for the medical community, and Ayurvedic medicine has identified various natural remedies that are believed to be effective in treating this condition. One such remedy is Bhringraj, which is known for its effectiveness in treating liver cirrhosis. The remedy involves mixing a teaspoon of Bhringraj juice with honey and consuming it. Another herb that has been found to be beneficial for elderly patients with liver cirrhosis is Katuki. Its powdered root is taken three times a day with honey to stimulate liver tissue and bile production while reducing constipation. ArogyavardhiniVati, a combination of Katuki and copper, is also used to treat liver cirrhosis. It is recommended to be taken in tablet form, with a strength of 250 mg, three times a day. If necessary, the dosage may be increased to four tablets a day. Papaya seeds are also believed to be effective in treating liver cirrhosis, especially the alcoholic type. One tablespoon of papaya seed juice mixed with ten drops of fresh lime juice is recommended for consumption daily for a month to improve the condition. Ayurveda offers other medicines, such as triphala, trivala, vasaka, and kakamachi that can also treat liver cirrhosis.
